A Salty blend of two arts

I was first introduced to Board Theory through an Instagram shout out page for local shapers. Brayden’s passion, creativity, and drive immediately caught my attention. From then on, we have been collaborating and blending our crafts to produce truly unique boards.

Brayden and I start the process by sketching out a design. We discuss the shape, measurements, fins, etc. Brayden then begins to hand shape the foam and prepares it for me to glass and add my art. The board is then sanded, polished and ready to ride!

Craft surf

Born and raised in Daytona, Fl., Brayden Brown has been shaping boards since he was 10 years old and has currently produced over 300 boards for riders worldwide. He’s been in multiple shows such as Boards & Waves Expo, and has been featured on several media outlets, providing him with a broad and supportive audience. Brayden explains that the purpose for Board Theory was to “help people in a fun way. I wanted to create a brand with love, something that offered a rider continuous progression. I wanted to develop an experience that made people stay in touch with their local shaper.”

Support your local shaper

Right now, small business around the globe are feeling the pressure of our economy. Luckily, Brayden has been able to dedicated his career to being a full time shaper with the support of his community. He expresses how important it is to support local artists by arguing that “local shapers provide an experience that Chinese boards simply cannot offer.” A beachside shaper creates a personal experience for the customer by providing them with an unique board made for their body type, skill, and desired ride. For Brayden, shaping boards is an outlet. He proclaims, “I don't build boards that are like everyone else's - I tend toward experimentation based on traditional shapes and artistic resin tint finishes. Surfboards don't have to be boring.”
